News for buildings located in the City of Milan that are more than 50 years old.
The guidelines implementing the New Municipal Building Code for the C.I.S. Milan have been approved (Executive Decision No. 598576 of November 25, 2016).
They require a Certificate of Structural Suitability (CIS) to be issued by a licensed engineer.
As for C.I.S. Milan, these are the deadlines:
- Within 5 years for buildings over 50 years old without a static inspection certificate;
- Within 10 years for buildings over 50 years old with a static test certificate.
Drafting of C.I.S. – Static Suitability Certificate
For Certificate Drafting, 2 levels can be used.
Level 1:
Simplified method to be performed according to a simplified procedure that can highlight any critical issues. If there is no criticality detected, the technician may issue the C.I.S.
Level 2:
Advanced method to be activated only if the building is not certifiable under the simplified method and involves diagnostic investigations and structural modeling.
